Darla Perkins Fairfax, Vermont Obituary

Darla Perkins

Darla Marie (Boudreau) Perkins, 51,of Georgia, passed away on Sunday November 20, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 11, 1965 daughter of the late Charles and Marlene (Ward) Boudreau. One’s strength is not defined by their physical capabilities, but their mental capacity to endure great struggles, and in the end remain triumphant. Darla’s life was not defined by struggle, but by strength, perseverance and love. Having her first son at the young age of 20 and a second son and daughter shortly after, she often worked multiple jobs and long hours to keep her family together, healthy, and happy. Selflessness, generosity, and indiscriminating, are only a few of the many characteristics that describe her, and any person who came to know Darla could not help but see these within her and share in her infectious joy. As someone who truly loved life, Darla took great comfort in the small things. Her garden, the decorations that filled her home during the holidays, the small talk and interactions with each and every individual who was blessed with her time, all brought her a deep happiness that she shared with us all. She loved being around family, especially her grandchildren who brought incredible pleasure to her life. As someone who was endlessly selfless, charitable, and loving, she will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. “Of all the gifts life has to offer, a loving mother is the greatest of them all.” Darla is survived by her sons Lucian Benway of Essex Jct., Jeremy Perkins of Essex Jct., daughter Angel Perkins and fiancé Brian Smith of Jeffersonville, her adopted daughter Sara Mika of Essex Jct., her sister Linda Boudreau and husband Lawrence Jarvis of Georgia, 4 grandchildren Ethan Bushell and Brayden Smith, Savannah and Karmin Mika, a niece Brandi Boudreau, 2 nephews Cory Boudreau and Nathan Boudreau, grandniece Jade Boudreau and grandnephew Kagne Goldmann. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday November 29, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Essex Junction with Reverend Charles Ranges S.S.E. officiating. There will be a reception at the rectory hall of Holy Family Church following mass until 2:00 p.m. Individuals are encouraged to come celebrate Darla’s life through food, music, and companionship. Memorial contributions in Darla’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495 or Holy Family Church, 4 Prospect St., Essex Jct., VT 05452.
