Gary Wendel Fairfax, Vermont Obituary

Gary Wendel

On December 4th at the VNA Respite House in Colchester, in the company of his loving wife and best friend Danielle, Gary left this world for his next adventure. He was a fighter but lost a three year battle against cancer. Gary was a very private person but was very loyal and loving to a small group of friends whose lives he touched. Originally from Detroit MI, he moved to Vermont when IBM recruited him over 30 years ago. He loved his new home, and enjoyed a quiet life, raising Malamutes, playing the blues on his many guitars, tending his gardens, woodworking on small projects and enjoying photography in the great Vermont countryside. Gary was also an accomplished baker and cook. He loved to treat friends to his cookies during the holidays and always had something cooking on his smoker in the backyard in the summer. But one of his greatest joy was meeting his wife Danielle and gaining a step daughter Dominique, a step son in law Antoine and a grandson Xavier. He was predeceased by his parents Phyllis Wagner of Detroit MI and Leroy Wendel, of Sheboygan WI. He is survived by many cousins scattered all over the states. A private ceremony will be held in the spring at the convenience of his family. A special thank you to the loving care of the nurses and assistants of the VNA Respite House who made Gary’s last days as peaceful as could be. He was very touched by their kindness. The family invites you to share your memories and condolences by visiting www.awrfh.com.
