Patricia Cobler Fairfax, Vermont Obituary

Patricia Cobler

Patricia Grimone Cobler, age 78, of Essex Junction, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 11. She was born to the late Leo and Ida Grimone of Emporium, Pennsylvania on August 11, 1938. Patricia attended school in Emporium, before going to work at Sylvania Products. It was here that she met the love of her life, David Cobler, a young engineer from Batavia, Ohio. Their love was instant and six months later they married and thus began their 60 year life journey. In 1968 David and Patricia moved their young family to Essex Junction. Patricia was soon an active member of her community. She taught religious education, helped plan community functions such as the village celebration of the United State's Bicentennial. For years she was a volunteer for the Vermont Young Republicans and was National Committee Woman in 1971. She and David were founding members of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and over the years Patricia donated her talent and time decorating and maintaining the church. Patricia passed her love for God and Our Blessed Mother Mary onto her children and grandchildren. For the past few years she enjoyed a special relationship with both a daughter and granddaughter as all three were members of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Fanny Allen. Patricia loved working with flowers. Over the years she created an oasis of flowering trees and a Garden of Angels enjoyed by family and friends. This love of flowers and and a hobby working with miniatures led to Patricia opening The Fly Cellar Gift and Dollhouse Shop in Essex Junction. For years her talent for floral design and her knack for tracking down uncommon miniatures offered her customers a unique shopping experience. Patricia was a devoted wife and mother. She was passionate about the well being of her family. Nothing was too much or too difficult for her children. Patricia was most often found in her kitchen creating fabulous Italian meals and nurturing her family and friends. There was always an extra seat at her table. She was proud of her Italian heritage and a lifelong dream was fulfilled when she traveled to Italy and visited the hometown of her beloved father Leo. It was in Casano that Patricia learned that the phrase "your blood is my blood" was more than words. Patricia is survived by her husband of 60 years, David, her daughter Anna Marie, her daughter and granddaughter Leslie and Ida, her son and his wife Chip and Brenda and their children Meghan and Patrick, her son Vincent and his children David, Kelly, and Christopher. She is also survived by Barbara Brown whom Patricia loved as a fourth daughter and Barbra's husband Lee and their daughters Marisa and Anya. Patricia is survived by three brothers and their wives, Leo and Elaine, Michael and Carol, and Sam and Nancy Grimone,as well as sister-in-law Margaret Grimone. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and sons-in-law Robin and Walter. Patricia was predeceased by her daughter Rosemary Hollwedel, her parents Leo and Ida Grimone, her in-laws Hubert and Ruth Cobler, and her brother William Grimone. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 19 at St Lawrence Church on West Street in Essex Junction at 11:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Father Charles Ranges, SSE. Inurnment will follow mass with a private service. Per Patricia's wishes there will be no public visiting hours. Christmas was Patricia's favorite time of the year. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations of wrapped Christmas gifts for needy children and seniors. Patricia's family will distribute the gifts in her name. An item description should accompany each gift.
