Daisy Blankenship

Mrs. Daisy Wolfe Blankenship, age 87, of Covington, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at Bath County Community Hospital, Hot Springs. She was the wife of the late Lacey W. Blankenship. Mrs. Blankenship was born December 20, 1928 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Frank C. and Rosa Wolfe. A lifetime resident of this community, she was a graduate of Boiling Spring High School. Mrs. Blankenship was a former cook for the Boiling Spring Elementary School Cafeteria, a licensed hairdresser and for a number of years sat with the elderly in their homes. Daisy was an active member of Pinnell Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Blankenship was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and an honorary member of the Boiling Spring Ruritans. Mrs. Blankenship is survived by a son, Dale W. Blankenship of Covington; a daughter, Ramona B. Reed of Covington; six grandchildren, Tonya Phillips, Greg Blankenship, Summer Pullin, Jessica Dotson, Kania Reed and Phillip Redman; nine great grandchildren, Jackson Blankenship, Elijah Pullin, Noah Pullin, Isaac Pullin, Chloe Pullin, Fallon Phillips, Savanna Reed, Jake Redman and Anisten Dotson. In addition to her parents, Frank C. and Rosa Wolfe, and her husband, Lacey W. Blankenship, Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by a son, Sherman Blankenship and a daughter, Priscilla Blankenship Redman. A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 15, 2016, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. David Brown officiating, assisted by Rev. Bill Gilliland. Interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayland Mayo, Phillip Redman, Carl Tingler, Greg Blankenship, Wayne Caldwell, and Tracy Haynes. Alternate pallbearer will be Michael Bradshaw. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home and at other times at the Redman residence, 307 Summit Drive, Covington. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Pinnell United Methodist Church Ladies Circle, 205 Summit Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
