Mrs. Virginia Ottie Bryan, age 71, of Clifton Forge, died Sunday, October 9, 2016, at the Brian Center Nursing Care-Alleghany, Low Moor. Mrs. Bryan was born December 2, 1944 in Petersburg, WV, the daughter of the late Jacob Whetzel and Ottie Virginia Thorne Whetzel. She was employed by Lear Corporation for over fifteen years. Virginia loved her family, friends and animals and her greatest joy in life was being a mother and “Grandma Jenny.” Mrs. Bryan is survived by two daughters, Tina Shinault and husband, Victor of Clifton Forge and Terri Miller and husband, Rick of Petersburg, WV; two sons, Dennis Lofton and wife, Sheila of White Sulphur Springs, WV and Tony Lofton and wife, Jenny of Clifton Forge; twelve grandchildren, Brooke Nicely and husband, Jason, Josh Mongold and wife, Cassandra, Jonathan Mongold and wife, Meghan, Mendi Ridley and husband, Jason, Andrea Shiflett and husband, Robert, Johnny Mongold and wife, Amanda, Bobbi Sue Mongold, Kelly Lambdin and husband, Chris, Dillon Lofton, Tre Lofton, Victor Slate and Casey Lofton; a number of great grandchildren; and a brother, Gary Whetzel and wife, Janet of Petersburg, WV. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bryan was preceded in death by a grandson, Corey Lofton; two brothers, Eston Whetzel and Larry Whetzel; and a sister, Diana Parish. A private service will be held at a later date. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, P.O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.
