Ada Ruth Shupe-Duffield, VA Ada Ruth Shupe, 82, Duffield, VA passed away at Willow Ridge Nursing Home in Maynardville, TN on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Ada was born in Scott County, VA, on February 18, 1934 to the late Thomas Miles and Lauda McMillian Darnell. Besides her parents, Ada was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Margaret Darnell and Betty Jean Ervin; brothers, Charles Darnell and Harold Lloyd Darnell. She is survived by her loving husband, Theodore (Sam) Shupe; her daughter, Suzanne Daugherty and husband, Tommy, Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Stephanie Daugherty, Bethany Shurmer and husband Jordan; great grandchildren, Owen Shurmer and Daniel Shurmer; sister, Elsie Davidson; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Gate City Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p. m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Rev. Keith Sutherland officiating. The graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bowen/Shepard Cemetery, Mabe, VA. Tommy Daugherty, Jordan Shurmer, Danny Darnell, Harold Darnell, Jr., Kay Jessee and Ked Berry will serve as pallbearers.
