James Howard Boggs– Kingsport, TN James Howard Boggs, 80, Kingsport, TN passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center. James was born in Scott County, VA on June 27, 1936 and was the son of late Jessee and Martha (Caudill) Boggs. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Kathleen Collier, Evelyn Lawson, Sally Hill, and Reba McDavid; brothers, Bill Boggs, John Boggs and Jess Boggs. He was a fine example of what a Christian should be, always talking to the Lord and praising his name with song. He also demonstrated his Christianity with love, by witnessing to others about the goodness of God, making sure they knew the biblical way of salvation (Acts 2:38). He was a storyteller and entertainer, recollecting many of his life’s experiences with humor. He never missed an opportunity to express his love for others and let them know they were special to him. His survivors include his wife, Janice Boggs, Kingsport, TN; sons, Michael Boggs and wife, Melissa, Kingsport, TN and Mark Boggs and wife, Elaine, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Tiffany Boggs, Dianna Grizzle and husband, Travis and Dahlia Boggs; great grandchild, Kinsley Grizzle; sister, Phebe Kern, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Gate City United Pentecostal Church, Gate City, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gate City United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Danny Grizzle, Bro. Jimmy Hammonds and Bro. Greg Street officiating. Music will be provided by the Church Choir. Military Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA, assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. An online guest register is available for the Boggs family at www.gatecityfunerals.com.
