Kathy Hunnicutt – Ft. Blackmore, VA Kathryn “Kathy” Jean (Bump) Hunnicutt, 77, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Monday, November 14, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Kathryn was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 19, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (Smay) Bump. She was a retired teacher with the Scott County School System with 31 years of service. She supported her community by serving on the Clinch River Health Services Board for several years, and was active in the Ft. Blackmore United Methodist Church and woman’s group. In addition to her parents, her sister, Helen Ingram preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Calvin “Bud” Hunnicutt, Ft. Blackmore, VA; her daughters, Susan Hunnicutt, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Nancy Shaw and husband, John, Huntersville, NC; and grandchildren, Juliana and Gabrielle Shaw. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jackie McGowan officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Holston View Cemetery for the graveside service. An online guest register is available for the Hunnicutt family at www.gatecityfunerals.com.
