Jean Whitt

Jean Ann Whitt, age 52, of Rowe, Virginia, went to be with the Lord Tuesday (November 15, 2016) at her home. Born June 11, 1964 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of Ella Mae Whitt Deel of Rowe, Virignia and the late Oliver Garmon Whitt. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1983 graduate of Garden High School and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Alice and Marshall Compton, and paternal grandparents, Bessie and Omar Whitt. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. In addition to her mother, survivors include one daughter, Jessica Altizer and husband, Dustin of Bandy; her companion, Doug Johnson of Rowe; six siblings, Pam VanDyke and husband, Danny of Rowe, Debra Stiltner and husband, Chester of Rosedale, Chris Whitt and wife, Liz of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Misty Edwards and husband, Brian of Vansant, Shawn Whitt of Rosedale, and Nancy Johnson and husband, June of Davenport; special granddaughter, Olivia Altizer of Bandy; special friends, Don and Agnes Boyd, Mike and Tina Fletcher, and Leslie and Teresa Keene; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Helping Hands Hospice, Heather Bradshaw, Tammy Greatorex, Laura Reynolds, and Teresa Stevenson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Steve Perkins and Rev. Donna Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitt Cemetery at Drill, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Thursday.
