Mom, those special memories of you will always bring a smile to our faces and have you forever in our hearts. We loved your smile, humor, caring, determination and strength to manage life’s challenges and enjoyed every moment we shared with you here and will in heaven. Carmen Maria Cruz, born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on April 26, 1918 entered heaven on February 1, 2017 at the age of 98. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones and is now joined together with her loving husband, Miguel Cruz, her parents and siblings. Carmen was the second of 14 children. She was a sister and a mother to all of them. She was the first of her siblings to fly to New York to search for a better life, where she became a skilled seamstress. She was the matriarch of a large family, who has also touched the lives of so many people. She leaves behind 3 children and their families, Robert and Traci Rivera, Clara and Miguel Arroyo, Minerva and Manny Morales, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing and visitation with the family. First viewing will be on Thursday Feb. 9, 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm, at Edward Memorial’s Lakewood Chapel located at 11020 S. Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA. Second viewing will be on Friday Feb. 10, 9:30 am - 10:30 am followed by the Funeral Ceremony at 10:30 am – 12:00 pm, both at Edward Memorial’s Lakewood Chapel.
