<p>Mr. James Lloyd “Jim” Davis ( or as his neighbors referred to him as the Honorary Mayor of Big Field), age 74, a resident of Chestnut Ave in Belington, departed this life Tuesday evening February 21, 2017 in the comfort if his home. He had been declining in health for the past several months.</p><p><br></p><p>He was born August 11, 1942 at Madison, WV, a son of the late James Lloyd Sr. and Mable Bertha Boylen Davis. On January 3, 1966 he was united in marriage to the love of his life the former Carol Ann Jones Davis, who preceded him in death on April 15, 2012.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by four daughters; Angela Carol Holbert and husband Danny of Mt. Liberty, Genia Maria Delauder and husband Brian of Philippi, Misty Lynn Hill and Brandy Nicole Hurst and husband Roger all of Belington, five special daughters; Cindy Lou Hill and husband Eddie, Susan Plum, Rebecca Maxson, Kimberly Barnett, and Loretta Pharis, and one special son; Donald Kelley, three brothers; Mack Davis of Florida, R.W. Davis of Belington, and Billy Ray Davis of Arden, two sisters; Alice McKneely of Michigan, and Wendy Ixos of Braxton County, one special brother-in-law, “his brother from another mother”; Larry Jones of Philippi, ten grandchildren; Danny James Holbert and fiancé Allie Becker, Kammie Golden and husband Cody, Ethan Dale Delauder, Nickolas James Delauder and fiancé Destiny Robinson, Evan Wayne Hill, Joshua Michael Hill and wife Karen, Allyssa Grace Hill, Austin Lee Hurst, Elizabeth Leann Hurst, and Kaycie Jo Hill, and many others he considered his grandchildren. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; Reagan McKenzie Delauder, Michael Dale Delauder, Braxton Dale Golden, Mason John Holbert, and Gabriel Mathew Delauder, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and a whole host of friends also survive.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by one son; David Michael Davis, one son-in-law; Dale Ware, and one sister; Jane Kelley.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim attended Philippi High School before leaving in the eleventh grade to join the military. Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He was previously employed by the Kitt Energy Coal Company as a coal miner, from which he retired and was the Chairman of the safety committee. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Laurel Mountain Post #410 and a member of the United Mine Workers of America, and a Protestant by faith. He loved his country and was very proud to serve his time in the military. He loved his family very much and looked forward to spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Saturday February 25, 2017from 3-9 pm, and again on Sunday February 26, 2017 from 8 am – 2 pm the funeral hour where final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Downing Gregory officiating. Interment will then follow in the Silent Grove Cemetery near Philippi where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion post #96 of Belington and the United States Navy. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.talbottfuneralhome.com. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Lloyd “Jim” Davis.</p><p><br></p>
