George Johnson

George Emmett Johnson, 64, of Grantsville died Sunday, August 14, 2016, at home of an extended illness. He was the son of the late Emmett Johnson and surviving mother, Pearle Johnson of Grantsville. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and Glenville State College with a degree in Business Administration. George was employed in his family's tire retreading business for many years, and then went on to own and operate his own tire retail business in Grantsville, Johnson Tire Center, prior to his retirement. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Robyn (Moss) Johnson, one son, Andrew Johnson of Grantsville, one daughter, Amanda Johnson Eastham and husband Jeff, grandchildren, Macy Eastham, Gavin Eastham, and Kinley Eastham, all of Fairfield, Ohio; two brothers, James Johnson and wife Martha of Grantsville, and Rex Johnson of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Johnson, and infant brother. George was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and riding his ATV with his wife on the back roads of Hur Ridge and Board Fork in Calhoun County. George loved spending time with his grandchildren, whom he always bragged that spending time with them made his life here on earth complete. Funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ron Chesser officiating. Visitstion will be from noon until time of service.
