Connie Jean (Rader) Phillips, 66 of Oak Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC following a short battle with cancer. Born December 18, 1950 in Sun, WV to the late Cecil Ray Rader and Juanita Vernon Rader. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Rader and nephews, Greg Rader and Zac Martin. Connie was a homemaker but was also a jack of all trades. She spent most of her time helping others by catering events, house cleaning, and especially taking care of her family and friends. She was a devoted employee with High Lawn Funeral Home as the pianist and greeter. Connie also loved to play music and sing, not only at home or with High Lawn, but with several churches. She attended Mountain View Church of God and also the Family Worship Center in Beckley. Connie never met a stranger and also had a bright smile on her face. She will certainly be missed by all who knew her. Loving wife of 34 years to John Phillips of Oak Hill; loving son, Justin Phillips and wife Courtney of Summersville; loving siblings, Cecelia Davis of Oak Hill, Bob Rader and wife Janet of Oak Hill, Joan Hamilton and husband Randy of Oak Hill, Iris Rader of Oak Hill, Marvin Rader of Glen Jean, and Gary Rader of Oak Hill; special cousin, Joe Flint of Cincinnati, OH; and a multitude of special friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive her. A celebration of Connie’s life will be conducted at 2pm on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Mountain View Church of God in Hilltop with Rev. Ruddell Bloomfield and Rev. Tim Akers officiating. She will be laid to rest at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Oak Hill. Pallbearers will be Jeff Gwinn, Kris Rader, Cameron Griffith, Jack Tolley, Johnny McCarty, Nick Rine, Jeff Rine, and Jimmy Woods. Visitation will be held at the Mountain View Church of God on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 5-9pm.
