Georgia Kelly Oak Hill, West Virginia Obituary

Georgia Kelly

Georgia Ann Kelly, 70 of Gatewood, WV gained her wings on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV. She joins her daughter, Lisa Smith and son, David Smith at Heaven's gates singing and rejoicing for a along awaited reunion. Born June 5, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Elzie E. Cody and Clara J. Moore Cody. Heaven has gained another angel, and not just any angel, but Georgie. She was a special kind of angel who had the ability to find the humor in every situation and if there was no humor, she would create some. Never a dull moment with her around. Georgia was quite the story teller, some true and some tall tales, but she told each with such passion. She had a kind patient spirit but was also a "Mama Bear" at heart and would do whatever it took to protect her children. She had many who looked up to her in a motherly way including her children, grandchildren, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends of her children and even strangers. Not often did she meet a stranger and when she did they parted as friends. She was a strong passionate lady that was always willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear. Georgia had a special way with children. It must have been her ability to see the world though the eyes of a child. She loved singing to the children and playing little pranks, but most of all she loved giving them kisses not just ordinary kisses, but Grama Georgie kisses all over! Georgie lived every moment of life to the fullest, the good and the bad. She hung in there and saw it to the end, so as her life on earth comes to an end don't be sad and cry for her, instead spread some love, tell a joke, make someone smile and smile for her. She has been healed, set free from the pain of this world. She has her wings and is flying high, singing and dancing and entertaining heaven now. Those left to cherish her memory include husband Jess Kelly, sons William "PeeWee" Kelly, Jessie Kelly, and Michael Kelly all of Gatewood, granddaughter Ashley and son-in-law Christopher Jenkins, grandson Brandon Kelly and granddaughter Morgan Smith as well as three beautiful great-grandbabies whom she didn't get much time on this earth with. Also surviving Georgia are her sister Naomi and husband, David Painter of Oak Hill, brothers William "Bill" Cody and partner Pam Armstrong of Sophia,Stanley Cody of Scarbro, Robert "Birdy" Cody and partner, Shelly Burks of Scarbro, Dennis "Dink" and wife, Carol Cody of Gatewood, Curtis and wife, Betty Cody of Scarbro, Sid Cody and partner, Kathy in Indiana, Steve and wife, Brenda Cody of Gatewood and brother-in-law Carl and wife, Ann Kelly of Gatewood. Services will be conducted at 3pm on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Pastor Bobby Pauley officiating.
