Jesse Kiger

Jesse Mack Kiger, 94, of Paden City, WV died suddenly Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Sistersville General Hospital. Jesse was born August 26, 1922 in Paden City, WV, son of the late Foster Mack and Cora (Brown) Kiger. He was a retired materials man for PPG, a U.S. Army veteran during WWII, he was in the Third Army 99th Division Field Artillery serving at the Battle of the Bulge, he earned a Bronze Star while serving his country, served with the Honor Guard, member of Moose Lodge #931, Sistersville VFW Post 6327 and Paden City American Legion Post #86 and member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Paden City. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen June (Long) Kiger; grandson, Jeffery Smith and three sisters, Edna Rapp, Lillian Mattuci and Cora Louise Barth. Surviving are his daughter, Janice (Steven) Poe of New Martinsville, WV; son, Mack (Loriann) Kiger of Paden City, WV; three grandsons, Jay Scott Smith, Steven Poe II and Tyler Brock Kiger; three great-great grandchildren, Derrick Smith, Brendan Smith and Nicole Owens; three great-great-great grandchildren, Gavin Turley, Madison Owens and Henley Smith; beloved dog, Suzie and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends received 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016 and noon until time of service at 2 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Interment to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV. Honor Guard to conduct military service. Memorial contributions may be made, in Jesse’s name, to the Wetzel County Animal Shelter, 399 Mollahan Dr., New Martinsville, WV 26155.
