Robert Hicks

Robert Jaye Hicks, 83, of Berlin Road Weston passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at his home following a sudden illness. He was born in Lewis County on January 8, 1933: son of the late Paris Hicks and Ruth (Lamb) Hicks. On April 5, 1966, he married Ruth (Fisher) Hicks, who survives. Robert is survived by three children: Tammy Lee Hicks, Tina Marie (Gary) Butcher and Bruce Wayne Hicks and his special grandsons: Byson Nathaniel Butcher and Jeramiha Wayne Hicks. He is also survived by one brother: Sam Hicks of Jane Lew, one sister: Mary Lou Probst of Amherst, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by four brothers: Otis, Sonny, Victor and Bernard Hicks and two sisters: Lucille Carson and Sara Hicks. Mr. Hicks worked in the coal fields and retired as a heavy equipment operator with WV Department of Highways. He attended Jane Lew High School and was a Methodist. He enjoyed watching football and his greatest joy was entertaining his grandsons. Earlier he built and raced a race car (43) at the Jackson Mill Raceway. Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 6 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Roger McKee officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date in the Friendship Cemetery of Berlin Community, WV.
