Samuel “Bud” Huibregtse Jr, 85, of Cedar Grove passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Cedar Grove Gardens. Sam was born on May 7, 1930 in Cedar Grove to Samuel Sr. and Jenny (Prinsen) Huibregtse. Sam went to Amsterdam School and was a 1948 graduate of Cedar Grove High School. On April 20, 1951 he married Lorraine Schreurs at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. Sam spent his entire life farming. From 1948-51 Sam had a milk route and then farmed until he retired in 1989 when he began doing cash cropping until 2010. Sam was a member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where he served as Elder, Deacon, sang in the church choir and a mixed quartet. He was a Town of Holland Chairman from 1973-1997, Co-operative Exchange Board President and also a member of the Farm Bureau and on the Board of Adjustments for Sheboygan County. Sam participated in Holland Festival plays and often attended the Fireside Theater. He enjoyed camping, especially at Terry Andrae State Park, politics, bowling, traveling, including all of his mystery trips that he planned, and most of all he loved spending time with his family. Sam is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lorraine; one son, Dennis (fiancé Renee´ TeLindert) Huibregtse of Cedar Grove; two daughters, Judith (Mark) O’Connell of Cedar Grove and Joy (Brian) Veldboom of Neenah; four granddaughters, Andria (Brian) Peterson, Molly (fiance Peter Link) O’Connell, Ashley (Troy) Vandermause and Kaylee (Mark) Frazier; five great grandchildren, Charlotte, Lane and Oliver Peterson and Carter and Emmalin Vandermause; one sister-in-law, LaVern Schreurs and one brother-in-law, Donald Heser. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; one great grandson, Aiden Vandermause; three sisters, Angeline (Alfred) Eernisse, Elsie (Clarence) Meeusen and Pearl (Carl) Voskuil; father and mother-in-law, William and Lena (Dana) Schreurs; three sisters-in-law, Hazel (Warren) Navis, Alma Heser and Arlene (Ernest) DeMaster; one brother-in-law, Myron Schreurs. A funeral service to celebrate Sam’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11am at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with Rev. Al Schut and Rev. Wayne Tripp officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 9am until the time of service at 11am. A memorial fund is being established in Sam’s name for the First Reformed Church and Cedar Grove Gardens.
