Charles Bohl Obituary

Charles J. Bohl, age 84, of Reedsburg, died on December 28, 2016, at St. Claire Hospital in Baraboo. He was born on August 8, 1932, the son of Glen and Dorothy (Putman) Bohl in Excelsior Township. Charlie proudly served his country in the Army National Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Jan Marie Mlsna on August 9, 1980, and married in Sacred Heart Catholic Church on December 26, 2015. Most of Charlie’s employment was with Skinner Transfer Corp. of Reedsburg, working as a driver, mechanic and wrecker operator for over 40 years. Charlie’s life was filled with many outdoor activities: Snowmobiling, deer camp with family members near Humbird, WI, camping and boating, and teaching his children how to waterski. He was fortunate to hunt elk in Colorado, pheasant in South Dakota and hauling Belgian horses to the Calgary Stampede in Alberta, Canada. Charlie was an avid hockey dad and an assistant coach, sometimes getting more excited than the players. Being an assistant Scout Master and becoming a member of the Order of the Arrow was one of his proudest achievements. Truck pulling was another great passion of Charlie’s, and with friends, built his own pulling trucks. In his later years, time was spent tinkering with antique cars and driving in parades with his best friend, Paul Meister, even though they didn’t always agree. Charlie had a gift with animals, especially horses and dogs. He talked to them as if they were his best buddies. There was always a dog ready to greet him when he came home, most recently, Raven and Oliver. He lived life to its fullest until he finally got tired. His family realized it was time for him to be at peace. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Glen; sister, Martha Barton and his first wife, Verna Novy. He is survived by his wife, Jan Marie of Reedsburg; Children, Dale (Carolyn) Bohl of Reedsburg, Glen (Laura) Bohl of Baraboo, Dawn (Doug) Sharpless of Pardeville, Adam Bohl of Reedsburg, Becky Bohl (Scott Nehring) of Reedsburg; Siblings, Richard (Joannie) Bohl of Prescott, AZ, Ernie (Joyce) Bohl of Hillpoint, Rosemary (John) Tyler of Reedsburg; Grandchildren: Annie, Mike, Wendy, Tabatha, Stacy, Heather, Nolan, Rylee and Charlie; 9 great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 11:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg, with Father David Carrano, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Reedsburg. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2017, from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home with Scripture Service at 7:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
