Victor McDermott Obituary

Victor W. McDermott, 87, passed away peacefully in his home on December 12, 2016. He was surrounded by his family. He was born in Spring Green to John and Ellen (Nellie) McDermott. Vic married Monica O’Brien in April of 1961 and had 4 children. He was a 1949 graduate of Reedsburg High School and shortly after graduation was drafted into the Korean War. He trained and served as a sergeant in small arms instruction. He was the founding father of Service Electric where he provided Electrical Contracting Services to South Central Wisconsin. He took great pride in his business as well as his men, making sure a quality retirement was in place for all. Over the years, he volunteered his time to various community services including the Sacred Heart Building Committee and Sacred Heart School Board. He was also a member of the Knight of Columbus, The Lions Club of Reedsburg and he served 10 years on the Reedsburg Utilities Commission. He was amongst the partners that founded The Voyager Supper Club. As an avid golfer, he was a long time member of the Reedsburg Country Club where he served on the Board of Directors. His love of golf was well known to all and if pressed he just might share the stories of his hole in one(s). Vic and Monica spent their winters in Palm Desert, CA. He was a true Irish man, he knew every word and verse of McNamara’s Band. His prized possessions were his wife, family and friends and everyone was easily drawn to him.
