Lois Horton

Lois Horton, 93, of Abilene, Texas passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 17th, at the Village of Gleannloch Farms in Spring, Texas where she had been living for the past seven years with her husband, Charlie Thomas Horton. A memorial service was held at The Village in Spring at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 20,, 2016. She is returning to her beloved Abilene and a graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 23, in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Lois was born on January 15, 1923 in Spray, NC, to the late Ernest Reid Wilson and Lena Mae Strutton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Leatrice Wilson and Lorraine Chambers, and her brothers Jack and Reid Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her dear friend, Helen Koen. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, as well as her three daughters and son-in-laws; Anita and Clint Miller, Betty and Dave Douglas, and Patricia Horton and David Wheatley, six beloved grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Lois was an avid bridge player, a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and the Big Country Porcelain Art Guild. She was a beloved homemaker, mother, grandmother and talented artist who will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
