Obituary for Jimmy Allen Atwell

Jimmy A. Atwell, age 66, a resident of 16365 Brumley Gap Road, Abingdon, VA died Sunday, October 22, 2006 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 19, 1940 the son of the late Delmar E. and Retha Irene Patrick Atwell. Mr. Atwell was retired from Abingdon Motor Parts having worked 35 years. He loved his coon hunting in his younger years and was a strong supporter of the Brumley Gap Fire Department. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Gene Atwell. Survivors include His wife of 40 years, Dorothy H. Atwell of Abingdon, VA One daughter, Vicky Lynn Musick and husband, Jeff of Abingdon, VA One brother, Don Atwell of Abingdon, VA Several nieces and nephews Funeral services for Jimmy A. Atwell will be conducted at 1:00pm Wednesday, October 25, 2006 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Linkous and Rev. Paul N. White officiating. Burial will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Sammy Scyphers, William Alexander, Bill Arnold, Donald Atwell, Scotty Gobble, Don Lee, Phillip "Hop White, and John Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Clinton Boyles, Geoff Atwell, Bill Bailey, Clarence Burke, members of the Brumley Gap Fire Department, and members of the Valley Rescue. The family will received friends at the Frost Funeral Home from 6-9 Tuesday evening. Flowers will be accepted or those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Brumley Gap Fire Department or the Valley Rescue Squad.
