Obituary for Amelia McConnell

Rachel Amelia Booher McConnell, age 84, a well known resident of the Green Spring Community of Washington County, Virginia passed away on Friday, February 13, 2009 in Grace HealthCare of Abingdon. She was born in Grayson County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Albert Thomas & Rachel Hale Booher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred A. McConnell, two sisters, Julia T. Nelson and Barbara A. Ault and a special Great Grandchild, Tiffany Hooper. She attended Radford College and was very active in Education in this area and served on the state level of PTA. She was a Past Director for People Incorporated. She had a great love for cooking and working in the garden and she truly loved her family.



She is survived by her 7 children, Marilyn Conner and husband James of Westland, Michigan; Fred A. McConnell, Jr. and wife Norma of Dillwyn, Virginia; Mary R. Hall and husband Terry of Clermont, Florida; Margaret A. Ludlow and husband Terry of Fredericksburg, Virginia; David S. McConnell and wife Pam of Hixon, Tennessee; Albert T. McConnell of Chilhowie, Virginia; Robert G. McConnell and wife Ann of Abingdon, Virginia. 19 special Grandchildren, 17 special Great Grandchildren and two special Great"Great Grandchildren.



Graveside services for Rachel Amelia Booher McConnell will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. John Martin officiating. Family & Friends will meet at the Cemetery by 10:45 A.M. on Tuesday morning. The family will receive friends at the Frost Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family ask that Memorial’s be made to the Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Rita Reynolds, 21157 Storybook Lane, Abingdon, Virginia 24210, American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Virginia 23058 or to the American Cancer Association, P.O. Box 123, Abingdon, Virginia 24212 in memory of Rachel A. McConnell.
