Obituary for Elvira C. Quintana

Elvira Corrales Quintana, 86, formerly of El Cerrito, NM and Rocky Ford, CO. passed away at Vista Care Center in Albuquerque on Sunday following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Maria Valdez Corrales; her husband, Perfecto Quintana; three sons: Perfecto Quintana Jr., Ronnie Quintana, and Sammy Armijo; one daughter, Dolores Armijo; three brothers: Diego and Danny Corrales and Jess Orona; and two sisters: Betty Romero and Cecilia Quintero.She is survived by three sons: Richard P. Armijo and wife Maryann of Trinidad, CO, Quintin Quintana and wife Carolyn of Albuquerque, NM, and James Quintana and wife Denise; seven daughters Rita C. Armijo, Laura Quintana, Carmen Contreras, Vickie Quintana, and Joyce Quintana all of Albuquerque, NM, Gloria Castro of San Miguel, NM, and Molly Quintana of Los Angeles, CA. two sisters, Consuelo Baca and Minnie Ortega of California; one brother, Henry Orona and wife Becky of Los Angeles, CA ,13 grandchildren 9 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was born in Sugar City, Colorado on September 5, 1921. She was originally from Rocky Ford, CO and at one time was active in the church choir at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford. A visitation will take place on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. from Nuestra Senora de los Desamparados in El Cerrito, NM. Father Thomas Kayammakal will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the church cemetery in El Cerrito, NM.
