Obituary for Lala D Baca

The Mass of Christian Burial for Lala D. Baca, 80 a resident of Las Vegas who passed away on Tuesday at Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehab Center, was celebrated this morning at 10:00 a.m. from the San Miguel del Vado Church in San Miguel, NM. Father Thomas Kayammakal celebrated the Mass. The interment followed in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery with the following grandchildren serving as casket bearers: Leonard Baca, Freda Perez, Leroy Baca Jr., David Garcia, Ricky Baca Jr., and Daniel Romero. Honorary bearers were the rest of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Lucille Baca Dominguez; two sons: Tony Baca Jr. and Terry Tony Baca; one sister, Frances Aragon; and brothers Robert and Jerry Dominguez. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Antonio S. Baca of Las Vegas; three daughters: Rose Ann Baca, Bernice Garcia & companion Ermie Padilla, and Christine Baca and fiancé Catalino Gutierrez all of Las Vegas, NM; five sons: Leonard Baca and wife Janice of Bernalillo, NM, Albert Baca and friend David Wolfe of Edgewood, NM, Leroy Baca and wife Lillian of Glendale, AZ, Ricky Baca and wife Mabel of San Juan, NM, and Patrick Baca and companion Judy Lovato of Las Vegas, NM; her former son-in-law, Joe Romero Jr. of Las Vegas, NM; 30 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was born in Ribera, NM on January 1, 1928. On June 25, 1945 she was united in marriage to Antonio Baca. She assisted her husband at the downtown post office concession stand and was known as a great cook, cooking red chili, and biscochitos. In her spare time she loved to crochet and do embroidery work. She was a member of the San Miguel del Vado Church.
