Obituary for Margery Maxine Stoneking

Margery M. Stoneking, 84, of Groveland, Florida, formerly of Columbus Junction, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 at her home in Groveland. There will be a private family graveside service at Columbus City Cemetery. The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction is in charge of local arrangements. Casket bearers will be Steve Stoneking, Chris Stoneking, Jordan Stoneking, Jason Stoneking, Matthew Stoneking and Brandon Constant. Sympathy notes may be left for the Stoneking family at

Margery Maxine Satterthwaite was born on October 27, 1924 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Maynard and Cora Blanche (Thomas) Satterthwaite. On April 11, 1942, Margery was united in marriage to Chester Sherleigh Stoneking in Kahoka, Missouri. Margery was a homemaker who enjoyed playing bingo, working in the garden and especially spending time and talking on the phone with her grandchildren.

Margery will be dearly missed by her children, Richard Stoneking and his wife, Bobbi of Columbus Junction, Judy Bird of Columbia, Missouri, Michael Stoneking and his wife, Clairene of Columbus Junction and Diane Hovel and her husband, Bobby of Clermont, Florida; nine grand children; and ten great-grandchildren.

Margery was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers, Lawrence and LaMoyne.
