Shawn Michael Sigafoos - Satellite Beach - Shawn Michael Sigafoos, 39, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Holmes Regional Medical Center with family at his side. He moved to Brevard in 1979 from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Shawn is a graduate of Satellite High School Class of 1989, and attended Brevard Community College. Shawn worked in the hospitality field all his life, as a bellman at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront, Cocoa Beach Hilton, and the family business, Siggy's American Bar in Palm Bay. Shawn loved being on the water, fishing, boating, and golf. He also loved cooking, entertaining and being with family and friends.
Shawn is survived by his loving parents, David and Amy (Amalia) Sigafoos and by Devon Gillespie, a brother in true friendship, and his seven year old daughter, Kirsten who loved her Uncle Shawn, and we proudly call our granddaughter. He is also survived by his loveable boxer, "Bailey"; grandparents, Nana Helen Sigafoos of Easton, PA, and Granny Kay Rivenbark of Lauderdale By The Sea, FL. Shawn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pop Pop Clyde Sigafoos, and George and Nani Stella Vlahakis; uncles, Ron Sigafoos, and George and Petro Vlahakis.
Shawn touched so many lives with his kindness, that beautiful smile, and sense of humor. Shawn has a large group of dedicated friends that have been together all through the school years. Our dedicated staff, who are like family, at Siggy's and our loyal customers and friends. Shawn served on the board of the Genesis House and planned the yearly golf tournament. He volunteered with Destination Florida, a group of seriously ill children from the UK, he planned many fundraiser events at Siggy's for many organizations, and for friends or those in need.
We will be celebrating Shawn's life with a gathering of friends and family at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church , Thursday, March 18th with a Celebration of Life at 10 a.m., and Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sigafoos Family, Cards of sympathy can be sent to P.O. Box 372403, Satellite Beach, FL 32937. Beach Funeral Home, Satellite Beach is in charge.
