Constance Yerxa Thayer, of Cambridge, formerly of Boston and of Lake Forest,Illinois, on August 20, 2007.
Beloved Mother of Constance Mullen of Texas, Andrea Mullen of Michigan and Modrea M. Scantlin, of Vanuatu. She was predeceased by her husband Lucius Harrison Thayer II of Boston. Former spouse of Jay B. Mullen,Jr. from 1950 to 1978. Besides her friends and her daughters, Connie was close to her step-daughter, Alexa Thayer, of Boston. She will also be missed by her other relatives, including her step-sister and brother, Katherine Yerxa Calvert and John Yerxa, both of Portland, Oregon and her cousin, Edo Potter of Chappaquiddick, and their families.
A Boston native, Connie was a graduate of the Winsor Schoool, Ethel Walker and Vassar. She had a Master's in Education from Northwestern University. She was head of English Department at Lake Forest Country Day School and a Senior Editor at Houghton Mifflin.
Connie's indomitable spirit is sorely missed. The family is planning a luncheon immediately following the funeral services. Please contact our office to RSVP. Thank you.
