William Charles Sexton, “Big Chuck”, 63, of Arden passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009. Mr. Sexton was born March 20, 1946 in Bridgeport, Connecticut and was a resident of Buncombe Count for most of his life. He was a fishing guide and also a brakeman for Norfolk Southern Railway. Chuck was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Sexton was a son of the late Hedley Walton Sexton, Jr. and Margaret Cordell Sexton Ballew. Chuck is survived by his devoted companion of 7 years, Flora Lassiter; son, William Charles Sexton, Jr. “Little Chuck” of Asheville; sisters, Ruth Sexton Moore and Carolyn Ballew Bustle both of Asheville, Jensie Kay Ballew Coyne of Enka; brothers, Hedley Walton Sexton, III of Eugene, Oregon, Gary Lee Sexton of Black Mountain and Jackie Ray Ballew of Lenoir, NC; one grandson, William Charles Sexton, III “Baby Chuck”. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A gathering of friends and family will be held in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals, Monday, May 11, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The service will be informal, so come as you are.
