Hilliard Robert Hunnicutt, Jr. 39, of Swannanoa passed away Saturday, June 21, 2008. Mr. Hunnicutt was born September 1, 1968 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hilliard and Betty Hensley Hunnicutt. Robert was a special brother and friend. He loved NASCAR, collecting knives, the Carolina Tarheels and the Owen Warhorse football team. He will be remembered for his funny little smile always on his face and his positive attitude. Robert was a graduate of the Lucy Herring School. He was an employee of the Goodwill Store in West Asheville. He is survived by his sister and brother, Sue Hunnicutt and Keith Hunnicutt. He had a special love for his aunt and uncle, Norma and Desmond Hussey; special friends, Susan and Mike Gardner, Jane and Roger Pressley, Dorcie Ford and her boys and Kim and Chuck Myers and family. There was a special place in Robert’s heart for his constant companion, Walley, his dog. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals, 208 W. State St., Black Mountain with the Reverend James Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Special thanks to the employees of the West Asheville Goodwill Center for the friendship you showed Robert. He loved coming to work every day.
