Leonard A. Gearhart, Jr. 80<br><br>of 502 Mount Joy Road, Clearfield died on Friday, April 18, 2003 at his residence.<br><br>He was born on May 20, 1922 in Clearfield, a son of the late Leonard A. and Rilla Amanda (Hooven) Gearhart, Sr.<br><br>Mr. Gearhart retired from the former Clearfield Furs after 52 years of service.<br>He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a former member of the Clearfield Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 540, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6 and the Loyal Order of Moose #97 of Clearfield.<br>A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II and later for 25 years with the Civil Air Patrol as a Major.<br>In 2001 he received the SB Elliott State Park award for 2500 volunteer hours to the park.<br><br>On July 17, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD he wed the former Eva Jene Mohney who survives along with two children,<br> Bonnie Jean Hubert and husband Terry Washoe Valley, NV<br> Leonard A. 'Sonnie' Gearhart, III and wife Lorraine Clearfield<br><br>five grandchildren,<br> Tulley, Galen, Matthew, Trevor and Cory<br><br>two great granddaughters,<br> Abbigayle Jean and Kayla Ann <br><br>two sisters and a brother,<br> Dorothy Lansberry Atlanta, GA<br> Josephine Shaffer and husband Pastor Robert Curwensville<br> Robert Gearhart and wife Susan Green Acres, FL<br><br>and numerous nieces and nephews.<br><br>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Surber. A sister, Mary Dague of Clearfield, died Sunday, April 20, 2003.<br><br>Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Richard B. Cartwright officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield.<br><br>Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American legion and VFW Posts. <br><br>Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 7-9:00 PM and on Tuesday from Noon until 2:00 PM.<br><br>The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Foundation for Health – Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield or to the charity of one's choice. <br>

of 502 Mount Joy Road, Clearfield died on Friday, April 18, 2003 at his residence.

He was born on May 20, 1922 in Clearfield, a son of the late Leonard A. and Rilla Amanda (Hooven) Gearhart, Sr.

Mr. Gearhart retired from the former Clearfield Furs after 52 years of service.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a former member of the Clearfield Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 540, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6 and the Loyal Order of Moose #97 of Clearfield.
