Shirley Sue Freeze, 73, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral Services for Shirley will be held on Monday, May 4, at 1 p.m., at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gene Haymaker officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 3, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday, May 4, from 11 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Shirley was born on May 27, 1935, in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Eveland) Heigley. She graduated from Shepherd High School in the Class of 1953. She married Richard Freeze on June 2, 1956, in Mt. Pleasant and was a homemaker. Shirley was a member of Marantha Baptist Church. She loved visiting with people.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard; children Michael Freeze, Michelle Freeze, Mark (Terri) Freeze of Mt. Pleasant, and Marlene Freeze (David Yarger) of Sears; 4 grandchildren, Alexis, Megan, Benjamin, and Zoey; and sister Janet (David) Knopp of Oil City.

Shirley was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey in 1960.
