Each tree is planted through the efforts of Forestry Services throughout North America who determine where the greatest needs for reforestation are. Once planted, the geographical location where the tree is planted will be added to the record. A beautiful card is also sent to the family signifying your thoughtful gesture.

Obituary for C. Dean Graves

C. Dean Graves of Boulder, died December 28, 2006 at his residence. He was 79.

Dean was born on February 5, 1927 in Healy, Kansas to Ernest Graves and Gretchen Lucas Graves. The Graves moved to Longmont in 1933.

Mr. Graves graduated from Longmont High School in 1945 where he participated football, basketball and track. He then attended the University of Colorado graduating with a Masters Degree in Personnel Service. He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corp.

On June 11, 1950, he was married to Janet Lou Jones in Longmont.

From 1962-1994, Mr. Graves was employed by the University of Colorado as Director of the University of Colorado Alumni Association and Vice-President of the CU Foundation. In 1984 he received the Robert L. Stearns Award for Distinguished Service at the University. He was a tireless supporter of The University of Colorado.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife in August 2005.

Surviving are two sons Zack Graves and his wife Margo of Louisville, CO and Mark Graves and his wife Rose of San Diego, CA, a brother Dane Graves and his wife Paula of Howard, CO and five grandchildren Jennifer, Heather, Michael, Chris and Connor.

There will be a private burial at Green Mountain Cemetery, Boulder prior to services.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Berke officiating.
