Steven Annis

Steven Michael Annis, 58, of Merlin passed away February 19, 2009 at his home. Services with Military Honors will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009, 3:00 PM at Eagle Point National Cemetery Steve was born on August 16, 1950 in Santa Monica, California to Miland and Nanette Annis. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Steve moved to Southern Oregon from Woodland Hills, California in the early 1970’s. Steve was distributer for Bien Padre and La Casita Mexican Food Products for 18 years. He had been working for the past 14 years as a butcher for Ray’s Food Place in Jacksonville and Phoenix. Steve was an avid animal lover and enjoyed organizing fund raisers for Southern Oregon Humane Society. He also loved watching college and pro sports. Steve had a very generous heart, and enjoyed helping family and friends. In earlier years, he played softball and coached his son in all kinds of sports. He was a devoted father to his son, Shaun. Survivors include his son Shaun Annis of Merlin; sisters, Cindy Gerber and Sheri Myers of Central Point and Michele Wentela of Anderson, CA; brother Michael Decker of Ashland; brother-in-laws, Lauren Gerber, Jerry Myers and Dean Wentela; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Miland Annis and Nanette Decker, and step-parents Randall Decker and Beverly Annis. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Southern Oregon Humane Society - 2910 Table Rock Road, Medford, OR 97501
