Richard Warren

Richard (Dick) Frank Warren, 80, of Grants Pass, died Aug. 24, 2010 at Rogue Valley Medical Center after a brief illness. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00AM September 25th, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Grants Pass. He will be honored during a private ceremony at Eagle Point National Cemetery In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to either The American Cancer Society or the SPCA on Richard’s behalf. He was born April 13, 1930 in Meddlebury, Vermont to Frank and Della Warren. During his High School years at Grants Pass High School, Dick helped the football team earn the schools first state championship. He entered the U.S. Navy August 29, 1950 during the Korean War. Dick proudly served as an aircraft-engine mechanic and was decorated with five medals. Dick served at sea, Japan, Hawaii, and San Diego before receiving an honorable discharge in June of 1954. Immediately after leaving the Navy, he became employed by Proctor and Gamble in Long Beach, California. Dick eventually progressed to CSM Operator for the company’s Ivory soap division. During this time he raised five children with his first wife Thelma. Soon after remarrying and retiring in 1988, Dick and his wife Dolores returned to Grants Pass to fully enjoy retirement. He enjoyed gardening and his time with his dog while watching football and auto racing. Dick served two terms as Aerie President for the Fraternal Order of Eagles. In addition to his wife, survivors include his son Robert (Bob) Warren and wife Ann of Santa Maria, Ca., daughter Joanne (Patti) Moss of Cypress, Ca., son Richard (Rick) Warren of Phoenix, Az., son Frank Warren and wife Susan of Grants Pass, and daughter Janet Gass and husband Rick of Mariposa, Ca. Grand-children Jennifer, Gregg, John, Wayne, Richard, Justin and Hailey, and five great grand-children. Other survivors include step-children Debra Falor, Mark Gormley, and William Gormley. Dick was preceded in passing by step-daughter Pam Gormley, brother Erwin, sisters Agatha and Marcia, and first wife Thelma.
