Fred J. Bistrick

Fred J. Bistrick, 70, of Kenosha, died Tuesday (July 27th, 2004) at Kenosha Medical Center. Born in Kenosha on Feb. 4, 1934, he was the son of the late Chester and Emma (Sturino) Bistrick. He was educated in Kenosha schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education from Fresno College in California, and a certificate in special education from UW-Milwaukee. On Oct. 11, 1954, he married Rita Rafferty in Fresno. For 32 years, he worked for Kenosha Unified School District in special education. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He played football at Fresno State and was a member of Fresno State College Alumni Association. He was a former Elk's Club Member. For 36 years he was softball director for the Kenosha Recreation Department. He coached football at Tremper for many years. He was inducted into the Bradford/Tremper High School Hall of Fame in 1991. He was an avid fan of the Fresno State Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Chicago Cubs, and he enjoyed playing and watching golf. Survivors include his wife of Kenosha; a daughter, Elizabeth (David) Nani of Kenosha; a brother, Robert (Laura) Bistrick of Kenosha; two sisters, Joan (Ben) Brougham of Evansville, IN, and Barbara Kates of Atlanta, GA; and one granddaughter, Halley Rafferty Nani. Proko Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. BISTRICK: Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Fred J. Bistrick will be held on Saturday, July 31st, at St. Therese Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Proko Funeral Home and Crematory, 5111-60th St., and on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass at St. Therese Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph High School Scholarship Fund would be appreciated by the family.
