Obituary for Agnes Margaret Winter

Agnes M. Winter, 94, of Earlville, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a brief illness.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Earlville by Revs. Tegeler & Bodensteiner. Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville where the Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. and Vigil service begins at 7:00 p.m. There will also be visitation after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.

Agnes was born June 28, 1910 in St. Lucas, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Drilling) Bodensteiner. She attended school in Ossian. On June 28, 1933 Agnes was united in marriage to Victor Winter in Ossian. The couple moved from the Waucoma area to Earlville in 1938

Agnes was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Earlville. While gardening was her passion, she also enjoyed bingo and all kinds of card games. Agnes especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Agnes is survived by five children, Mark (Ann) Winter of Earlville, Victoria Winter of Minooka, Illinois, Janet Maiers of Earlville, Jacquelyn (David) Stammeyer of Farmington and Bernard (Cathy) Winter of Brule, Wisconsin; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, M.J. Bodensteiner of California, Leo Bodensteiner of Iowa Falls, Fr. Peter Bodensteiner of Lawler and Cletus Bodensteiner of California; and three sisters, Evelyn Hawkins of Ossian, Lucille Fanning of Maryland and Olivia Everett of Fayette.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Margaret Bodensteiner; her husband Victor Winter in 1988; a son, Luke Winter; son-in-law, Jerome Maiers; and three brothers, Leonard, Hugo and Chris Bodensteiner.
