Obituary for Herbert Duesterhoeft

Herbert Duesterhoeft July 7, 1926 - July 6, 2005 Dallas- Herbert Duesterhoeft died on Wednesday, July 06, 2005 in Dallas at the age of 78. He was born on July 7, 1926 in Essen-Stoppenberg, Germany to Arnold and Ulrike Lina(Wanning) Duesterhoeft. Herbert was conscripted at age 17 into the German Paratrooper during WWII. He was captured at the Battle of the Bulge and became a Prisoner of War in Scotland. He later became a Journeyman fitter-joiner for locomotives. He married Hannelore (Klinkenberg) on Easter Sunday 1950. Herbert and Hannelore immigrated first to Canada in 1953 and then to the United States in 1960. Herbert worked at Cat Tractor in Dallas as a welder. Herbert attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Waikane, Hawaii and St. Philip Catholic Church in Dallas, Oregon. Herbert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hannelore of Dallas, son: Ralph W. Duesterhoeft of Dallas, sister: Herta Gutsell of Essen, Germany, and two grandchildren: Shane and Chaz Duesterhoeft of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Heinz and Walter and his sisters: Imgard Bolus and Betti Winkels. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philip Catholic Church in Dallas, Oregon.
