SCHNEIDMILLER Jean Flemming Schneidmiller of Sundre, Alberta passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Jean was born on November 1, 1922 in Calgary, Alberta, the second child, to Ernest and Edith Lowrie. She lived in the Zella area and worked in Didsbury after finishing school. She married Victor Schneidmiller on July 25, 1945, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Edie Lowrie. Their first son Ernie was born to the couple on October 5, 1947, followed by Keith on January 29, 1950, and their daughter Marilyn arriving March 17, 1955. They bought an acreage then the balance of the quarter west of Sundre in 1950 and set up farming. Jean was an avid gardener and spent many, many years beautifying her yard, something that brought her great pleasure. She also had a huge vegetable garden that she tended too. Berry picking was another hobby that brought her pleasure. She was a true “farm woman” working with the cows/pigs/chickens/haying etc as well as her roles of Mother and Wife. A life style she loved. Jean lived here, doing what she loved most, farming, until 2002, when she went to Didsbury LTC, for 3 years, later transferring to Sundre LTC for 5 years, until her passing. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Edith Lowrie, sisters, Edie and Isobel and her husband, Victor. Left to mourn Jean’s loss, is her son Ernie Schneidmiller (Irene) son Keith (Cheryl) Schneidmiller, daughter Marilyn (Dale) Phillips, grandchildren, Kevin Schneidmiller, Dawn Hanson, Maxine Gallais, Craig and Travis Phillips, 4 great grandchildren, Steven and Wyatt Hanson, Graison Gallais, and Kaden Phillips. A Memorial Service will be held at the McDougal Chapel on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Jean may be directed to Sundre LTC (Continuing Care) c/o Sundre Hospital, Bag 3 Sundre Alberta, T0M 1X0.
