Edith Varner
Edith M. Brehm Varner, 72, of Middletown, passed away Friday with her family by her side in the Harrisburg Hospital. Born in Hummelstown on February 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. Sr, and Helen M. Fanning Brehm. Edith attended the former Hummelstown High School. She retired from the former Cloe’s Textiles, Middletown; enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping and Notre Dame football. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donal M. Varner; and a daughter, Cathy Mae Varner. Surviving are one daughter, Nancy L. Varner of Middletown; 3 sons, Raymond B. Varner husband of Marsha of Canton, OH, Harry J. Varner with whom she lived, and Thomas S. Varner husband of Shirlyn of Reading; 2 sisters, Mary Myers of Canton, OH, and Brooke Robertson of Middletown; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
