Obituary for Doris Elizabeth Nix

Funeral services for Doris Nix, 80, of Crandall and formerly of Wills Point are scheduled for 10:00am, Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Donnie Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Union Grove Cemetery. Doris Elizabeth Haynes was born September 22, 1926, in McKinney, TX, to the late Paris Melton and Ilar Cook Haynes. She grew up in the Addison/McKinney area and graduated from Addison High School. She married Thomas Eugene Nix on October 17, 1942 in Dallas, where they made their home for the next twenty-one years. In 1971, they moved to Wills Point. Doris was a homemaker and loved sewing, ceramics, shopping and canning. She was of the Baptist faith. Along with her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Nix, son, Lonnie Nix, daughter, Linda Pyron, grandsons, Lonnie Glen Nix, Clint Wayne Nix and Jon Eric Buck, brother, Paris “Possum” Melton Haynes, Jr., and sister, Willie Mae Brisendine. She is survived by, daughters, Barbara Miner and husband David of Crandall, Carol Hastings and husband, Bill of Joshua, Sharon Morrison and husband, Marvin of Terrell and Sandra Ottwell and husband, Jimmy of Greenville and formerly of Quinlan; sister, Vonie Pearl Jordan of Tool; sixteen grandchildren: twenty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 6:00-8:00pm, at the funeral home.
