RACHER LaQuita Joy Racher passed away in Hanna, Alberta on March 8, 2011 at the age of 80 years. She was born in Champion, Alberta July 19, 1930. In 1948 she married Bill Racher. This began their many years of farming together. Laquita loved the farm. She enjoyed gardening and particularly liked the flower garden, which attracted her much-loved butterflies. In the later years she and Bill left the farm and moved into Lethbridge where they enjoyed the city life. There, LaQuita worked in retail and thoroughly enjoyed it. Due to ill health she and Bill moved to Hanna to be closer to family. Four years ago LaQuita moved to the Palliser Nursing Home. It took some adjustment but even there she had an open door policy and a very welcoming spirit. She truly enjoyed the camaraderie with the staff. She looked forward to each day beginning with a call at 7:00 a.m. from her daughter Cheryl checking in and setting up a coffee date. Her passions in life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A day did not go by without her asking after each of them. She was always very interested in their activities big or small. All those who knew her will miss LaQuita’s beautiful smile and spirit. She was predeceased by, her son Arlin, Grandson Bradley and in 2002 her husband Bill. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters, Amanda McCord of Innisfail, Cheryl Holm(Michael) and their sons James (Shannon) Darby, Nicholas of Three Hills, Perry, Meghan and Austin of Hanna, daughter-in-law Judy Racher, grandsons Aaron (Meghan and Alex) and Ben (Laine and Naomi), sister-in-law Audrey Ellis (Jim) of Champion as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held at the Senior Circle 519-3rd Ave W Hanna, Alberta Tuesday March 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM.
