SOUTH GLENS FALLS Douglas H. Vaillancourt, a longtime resident of South Glens Falls, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle after a long illness. Doug was the son of the late Raymond and Evelyn (St. Ongre) Vaillancourt, having been born in Churubusco, New York, on November 15, 1936. When Doug got out of high school he first served in the military, and then went on to complete a 33 year career in the paper industry with the Finch Pruyn Paper Company in Glens Falls. At the time of his retirement, Doug was the Wood Yard Foreman. Doug was a member of the Moreau Senior Center for many years. He loved to debate and argue politics with his friends, as well as go camping with his family, and was always reading some book of interest. In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by a brother and two sisters-in-law. Doug is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia; his children: Candy Smith and her husband Gregg of Hudson Falls; Francis Vaillancourt and his wife Kelly of Fort Edward; Jeanette Baker of Jack, Alabama; Barry Vaillancourt and his wife Pam of Fort Edward; as well as Kelly Stark and her husband Tim of Queensbury; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on the family Friday, April 8, 2011 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12804. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 1 p.m. in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Saratoga Road, South Glens Falls with the Reverend Guy A. Childs, pastor, officiating. A Rite of Committal will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations in Doug’s name to the Cornerstone Soup Kitchen, 293½ Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
