Patricia Pennay

Patricia Rose Pennay, age 78, passed away quietly April 10, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born March 7, 1933 in Independence, Missouri to McHanna “Mack” and Blanche (Stevenson) Courtland. Patricia was the last surviving child of Mack and Blanche Courtland’s family. Her siblings were Anna Pearl, Joy Maxine, Thomas Henry, Bettie Lorraine and Marjorie Louise. The children were split up to foster families in 1936 after their mother Blanche passed away. Patricia graduated from Pleasant Hill, Missouri high school in 1951 with the name Brizendine from her foster family. She was a secretary at Richards-Gebaur Air Base, a keypunch operator and her last job was as a medical transcriptionist at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was also attended college in Kansas City. Pat married Robert Eugene Pennay in Cleveland, Ohio in July 1960. Pat and Bob Pennay resided for many years in Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri, where they both enjoyed auctions and traveling around the countryside. They bought a home near Claycomo for their retirement. After Bob passed away in 1998 Pat moved to Perry, Kansas. She is survived by her 4 sons, Robert A. (Beth); John C. (Patricia); Steven M.(Kay); and Terry S. Pennay; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and extended family and friends too numerous to mention. Patricia loved working in her flower garden and had a special passion for garage sales. Pat is dearly loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all. Graveside Services will be held at 11 am, Friday, April 22, 2011 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 701 N. Noland Rd., Independence, Missouri.
