Mrs. Nell Mackey, 87, of Durant, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at her residence. She was born Wednesday, April 25, 1923 in Calera, Oklahoma to Nick and Vista (Ridling) Badgett. Nell married Carl Mackey on April 18, 1942 in Coalgate, Oklahoma. She received her B.S. degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Nell was a retired school teacher from the Bennington Schools and a member of Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Durant. Nell enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Mrs. Mackey's survivors include her husband, Carl Mackey of the home; son, James N. (Nick) Mackey of Kenefic, Oklahoma; brother, Vernon Badgett and wife Alberta of Lindsey, Texas; grandaughter, Tammy Mackey Dennington and fiancee' Clay Bunn and daughter Michelle of Wright City, Oklahoma; grandson, James N. (Nick) Mackey II and wife Sunny of Denison, Texas; granddaughters, Cheyna Mackey of Allen, Texas, Leslie Mackey Enriquez of Allen, Texas; great grandchildren, Harley Ramsey and Jett Mackey of Denison, Texas, Micah and Kara Enriquez and Haily Henderson of Allen,Texas; daughter-in-law, Brenda Mackey of Durant, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Vista Badgett; son, John Mackey; and two brothers and sisters. Family Hour will be 6-7 P.M. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Calvary Baptist Church, Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Darel Bunch officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Calera, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Enriquez, Sterling Timmons, Robert Armstrong, Don Herron, Shannon Reasor, Cecil Mackey, Jim Garza, and Dan Earley.
