Obituary for Irving Francis SOMERVILLE JR.

Irving “Irv” F. Somerville, Jr., 62, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2006 in Lake Havasu City, AZ; suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was born on September 21, 1943 in Grandville, IL; the son of Irving F. Somerville, SR; and Zola M. “Atckinson” Heffner. Irv moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 6 years ago from Shingleton, MI. He was a 1961 graduate of Wm. G. Mather High School in Munising, MI. Irv served in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne, as a paratrooper in the Dominican Republic. He lived in Eastman, GA; Kenosha, WI; and retired from Civil Service in Albuquerque, N.M. Irv was a life member of the American Legion, life member of the Disabled Veterans, V.F.W. and a member of the 82nd, Airborne Division Association.Irv is survived by his loving wife Jeanne M. (Parker) Somerville, his mother Zola M. (Atckinson) Heffner of GA; son Irving F. Somerville III and wife Jenny of TN; brothers, Marvin Spivey of GA; Paul Markham of TN; Robert Somerville of GA; sisters, Marilyn Hebert and husband John of MI; Myrtle Linne and husband Charles of MI; 2 stepsons, 3 step-daughters; 3 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; Irving F. Somerville Sr; brother John Jeffery and sisters, Catherine and Elaine. His family would like to thank all his physicians and their staffs for his health care and the therapists at Home Health Care of Havasu Regional Medical Center, also the staff in the Lab. Dept. at Havasu Regional Medical Center.A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.Condolences and thoughts can be made to his family at www.lietz-frazfuneralhome.comArrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
