Carl S. Carman

Carl S. Carman, age 75, of Rome, passed away May 30, 2011, with his loving family at his side. He was born November 27, 1935, in Canastota, a son of Franklin and Josephine DeVencenzio Carman. Carl was united in marriage to the former Ida Labarge in Rome; she died January 27, 2004. He was employed as a welder at Special Metals Corp. in New Hartford. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Henry P. Smith Post #24, American Legion, Stanwix Veteran and Men’s Club and Tappet Twirlers. He was an avid Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan. Carl proudly served in the United States Air Force. Carl is survived by a daughter, Donna Myers of Rome; two sons and a daughter in law, Carl and Susan Carman of Rome, and William and Deanna of Rome; a sister, Kate Beckwith of Lee Center; five brothers and sisters in law, Frank and Dorothy Carman of Lake Charles, LA, Sam and Ellie Carman of Clinton, Ronald and Mary Carman of St. Augustine, FL, Robert and Gloria Carman of Rome, and Richard and Marsha Carman; two daughters in law, Bettina Carman and Sherry Carman; a son in law, Russell Myers; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Steven Carman and a sister, Edna Witchley. The funeral service will be held Friday at 10:30 AM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Westernville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday 4 to 7 PM. The family wishes to sincerely thank Carl’s granddaughter, Melissa Szablewski and special friend and caregiver, Nancy for their care and compassion.
