Paul L. Schoellkopf

Paul L. Schoellkopf, 61, of Telford, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 8, 2009. He was the long-time companion of Elaine Schoen, Telford. Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late Lloyd G. and Grace H. (Weitzel) Schoellkopf. He was a 1968 graduate of Quakertown High School. Mr. Schoellkopf was employed for many years as a corrections officer for the Bucks County Prison. He was a member of Peace Tohickon Lutheran Church, Perkasie. Paul was serving as the Eastern Vice Commander for the State of Pennsylvania Sons of the American Legion. He had served in that position previously during the years 2003-2004 and 2006-2007. He had also served as Chaplain for the State of Pennsylvania Sons of the American Legion. He was currently the Adjutant of the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 255, Nase-Kraft Post, Sellersville, where he had held the positions of Commander, Past-Adjutant, and Chairperson of Membership. He was also a member of the Sellersville Moose #1539; the American Legion Post 234, Souderton; and the Telford VFW Post 5308. Paul enjoyed NASCAR and had attended many races in person. In addition to his companion, Mr. Schoellkopf is survived by two daughters: Kelly Voortman, and her husband, Tom, of Bethlehem; and Kim Schoellkopf, and her fiancé, Mark Gero, of Quakertown; four grandchildren: Ashley Salvatore, of Bethlehem; Michael Jacquart, of Rhode Island; Falon Salvatore; and Justin Voortman, both of Bethlehem; one great-grandson, Elijah Albert, of Bethlehem; and one sister, Letty Schoellkopf, of Quakertown. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday afternoon, December 14, 2009, at 4:00 PM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call Monday at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until time of service. Interment will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 1401 Rockville Pike, Suite 600, Rockville, MD 20852. Paul strongly supported this not-for-profit organization, which builds houses that are used by families of active-duty military and by veterans who receive medical care at veterans’ hospitals.
