Erline M. Girard, 86, of Decatur, IN passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on April, 9, 1925 in Effingham, SC to the late Francis C. and Ethel M. (Cain) Freeman. She married Adrian J. Girard Jr. on September 14, 1945; he passed away on January 18, 2004. She is survived by 4 sons, Mike (Bobbie) Girard of Xenia, OH, Jeff (Victoria) Girard, Bruce (Jennifer) Girard and Judd (Leisa) Girard all of Decatur, IN; 3 daughters, Suzzette (Robert) Prchal of Ft. Wayne, IN, twins Bonnie (Barney) Schultz and Barbara (Dave) Hitchcock both of Decatur, IN; 1 sister Gerry Hood of Florence, SC; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers. Erline was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and The Rosary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #43 Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge #1311 Auxiliary. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home with a reciting of The Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father David Voors officiating; a closed-casket visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church. A private burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Adams Memorial Hospital Diabetes Connection or St. Joseph Catholic School.
