Rita Evelyn Patsun, 80, of Somers, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2011, with her family at her side. Born Rita Evelyn Drew, daughter of the late Clinton and Louise (Gosselin) Drew, of Palmer, MA, she is survived by her loving husband William S. Patsun, to whom she was married for 59 years. She leaves her daughter, Judy Laventure and her husband, George, of Fabyan, CT, her daughter Laura Keough and her husband, William, of Chattanooga, TN, her son William and his wife, Bonnie, of Ellington, her son Bruce and his wife, Doreen, of Somers, her son, James and his wife, Jacqueline, also of Somers, and her son Jeffrey and his companion, Terri Bourbeau, of Stafford Springs. Rita was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Marden and is survived by her son-in-law, Joseph Marden of Stafford Springs. She also leaves her sister Ellen (Marvonek) Normand of Enfield and was predeceased by her brothers, Willis and Charles Drew. She will be dearly missed by her 20 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several cherished nieces. While raising 7 children, Rita worked alongside her husband supporting his many endeavors including Patsun Catering. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, her gardens, and gatherings with family and friends. Rita was completely devoted to her family. She exemplified Christian values in her daily life and was a dedicated communicant of All Saints Church. She was a woman of deep faith with a quiet manner. Many sought her positive outlook and comforting words of wisdom. She made our world a better place. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Family and friends may gather at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, Somers, at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2011, for a procession to All Saints Church, 25 School Street, Somersville, where a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Rita’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. Rita’s family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 19, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Donations in Rita’s memory may be made to All Saints Church, P.O. Box M, Somersville, CT 06072-0913.
