Nettie Jones

NETTIE B. JONES Nettie B. Jones, 82, of Collins, Georgia and formerly of Palatka, passed away Friday, August 12, 2001 following a lengthy illness. A native of Bullock County, Georgia, she had resided in Savanna, Metter, Pembroke and Reidsville, GA as well as in Palatka before returning to Collins, GA. During World War II, she worked as a welder at a shipyard in Savannah. While living in Palatka, Nettie worked at Central States Bag Factory and as a manager at a 7-Eleven store. She had also attended Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus D. Jones, sons, Howard L. Jones, Danny L. Jones and R. David Jones, her sisters, Lillian Jones and Sybil Fullmore, her brothers, Carl, Clifford and Darvin Sheffield. She is survived by a daughter, Sarah Ann Pierce of Chattanooga, TN, a brother, Donald Sheffield of GA, her companion of 20 years, Charles MacMillan of Collins, GA, granddaughters, Tonya Pierce of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Lynn Pierce of Chickamauga, GA and Lisa Jolley of Middleburg, grandsons, John C. Pierce of Chattanooga, TN, Toby Jones of San Mateo and Rodney Jones of East Palatka. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Rev. Darrell Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
